Julia Roberts Was Suggested To Play Harriet Tubman According To Screenwriter

This is interesting.

When thinking of the casting for the movie Harriett, did you think of actress Julia Roberts to portray the American abolitionist and political activist? Yeah, me either.

Well, according to Gregory Allen Howard, a screenwriter suggested that actress Julia Roberts would be the “perfect person” to play the role in the new biopic.

"This script is fantastic. Let's get Julia Roberts to play Harriet Tubman," Gregory Allen Howard claims the executive said. That's according to an interview for Focus Features, which produced "Harriet."

There is no reports of who exactly this screenwriter is- yet, when someone reminded people that Harriett Tubman was in fact a Black woman, this screenwriter reportedly says "It was so long ago. No one is going to know the difference."

Fortunately, Cynthia Erivo is playing the role of Harriet Tubman.
