Congratulations to Lucy Liu for receiving her star on Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contribution in the television category!
Lucy is the second Asian-American actress to have her own star! Her star is located next to the first Chinese-American actress who appeared in silent films, sound films, TV, stage and radio, Anna May Wong!
Lucy is an actress, director and artist. She known for her role as Joan Watson in the crime-drama series Elementary and her role as Alex in Charlie’s Angels. She also was in Ally McBeal, Kill Bill, Kung Fu Panda and more!
Speaking of Charlie’s Angels, Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz joined the actress for her ceremony. It was definitely great to the actress reunite. Lucy expressed, “20 years ago we were forming an elite crime fighting team. Thanks to Drew Barrymoore and Cameron Diaz for always being my angels!”
At the ceremony, Liu touched upon diversity. She stated, “Sometimes people talk about my mainstream successes as groundbreaking for an Asian, but Asians have been making movies for a long time. They just weren’t making them here because we weren’t yet invited to the table. I was lucky that trailblazers, like Anna May Wong and Bruce Lee, came before me. If my body of work somehow helped bridge the gap between stereotypical roles, first given to Anna May, and mainstream success today, I am thrilled to have been part of that process.”
We congratulate Lucy Liu once again on her star which was well deserved! We will continue to keep up with her success.
