On Sunday, Netflix posted on social media a photo stating ‘Homecoming” with no other information except the release date which is April 17th. This immediately had Beyoncé’s fans going crazy in the comment section! Although Netflix never stated the film is about Beyoncé, it was hard to believe considering the colors, font and greek letters were similar to not only her Coachella performance in 2018 but also her clothing collection.
The next day on Monday morning, Netflix gave the fans exactly what they wanted and dropped the full trailer to the film! Homecoming will highlight “Beyoncé’s historic 2018 Coachella performance that paid homage to America’s historically black colleges and universities, interspersed with candid footage and interviews detailing the preparation and powerful intent behind her vision, Homecoming traces the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement.”
Last year, Beyoncé made history as the first woman of color to headline Coachella and launched the Homecoming Scholars Award Program. The program provided four winners from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) each a $25,000 scholarship for the academic year to study in various fields.
The film is set for April 17th. Take a look at the trailer below and let us know if you will be watching!
