Shang-Chi’ Marvel’s First Asian Film Superhero Franchise, Searching For Director Of Asian Descent

Is this you? Reportedly, Marvel Studios is fast tracking Shang-Chi to be it’s first Asian decent superhero franchise. The screenplay will be written by Dave Callaha.

Marvel Studios is looking for a host of Asian-American, and Asian directors. The film is set out to be similar to how impactful Black Panther was to Black culture, but for Asian culture.

Shang-Chi first appeared in Special Marvel Edition #15 in December 1973, hatched by Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin.The script will modernize the hero to avoid stereotypes that many comic characters of that era were saddled with,” according to Deadline.
