Oscar Nominee John Singleton has passed away at the age of 51. He was a famous film director, screenwriter and producer. He became the first African American and youngest person to have ever been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director!
Here are a list of the most famous movies he directed:
1. Boyz In The Hood
Three young men - Tre, Doughboy, and Ricky - live in Crenshaw, Los Angeles where they dissect questions of race, relationships, violence and future prospects. Although Tre’s father teaches him about respect and his girlfriend teaches him about faith, Doughboy and Ricky are drawn into the neighborhood's drug and gang culture.
2. Poetic Justice
Justice is a young African-American woman who deals with her pain by writing poetry. When her friend invites her to a road trip to Oakland with some friends, Justice begins to gain a love interest.
3. Baby Boy
Jody is a 20 year-old African-American who lives with his mother in the hood of Los Angeles. He has two children with two different woman, but can’t seem to face reality and grow up. He is finally forced to become a man in oder to support his family.
4. Higher Learning
Three incoming freshman experience the college life in the 1990s at Columbia University. They come across racial tension, responsibility and cultural divides as they find the meaning of an education on a university campus.
5. Four Brothers
When the adopted mother of four brothers is killed in a store robbery, the men investigate the murder themselves and search for the killer to avenge their mother’s death.
