'The Office' Is Leaving Netflix For NBC's New Streaming Service

By: Kayla Reyes

All seasons of The Office will be taken off from Netflix in 2021, BUT don’t be frightened the show will stream on NBC Universal’s new streaming service.

The Office is well known for its comedy and was the most-watched Netflix show in 2018!

It is stated that NBC has “exclusive domestic streaming rights” for the nine seasons of the show and it will be available for five years. Netflix made an offer to pay up to $90 million a year for the rights of the show, but NBC topped the offer -- willing to pay $100 million a year. Although the idea of splitting the rights was in the air, it seems that is no longer an option.

Bonnie Hammer, the Chairman of NBCUniversal Direct-to-Consumer and Digital Enterprise, stated “The Office has become a staple of pop-culture and is a rare gem whose relevance continues to grow at a time when fans have more entertainment choices than ever before. We can’t wait to welcome the gang from Dunder Mifflin to NBCUniversal’s new streaming service.”
