We recently reported the Oscars decision to cut the four categories - cinematography, film editing, live action short and makeup and hairstyling - out of the live broadcast. However, the Academy has reversed the decision and all awards will be aired live!
The initial report provoked many industry leaders to respond by sending a letter to the Academy requesting the decision to be reversed. Guillermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón, Christopher Nolan, Spike Lee, Brad Pitt and George Clooney are just a few who signed the letter.
According to Variety, “The Academy has heard the feedback from its membership regarding the Oscar presentation of four awards - Cinematography, Film editing, Live Action Short and Makeup and Hairstyling. All Academy Awards will be presented without edits, in our traditional format. We look forward to Oscar Sunday, February 24.”
We’re happy to see the Oscars giving the people what they want. We are more excited than ever for this years award show!
